Brazil assumes a key role in Ford’s electrification strategy
The North American automaker repositioned our country at the center of its global strategy. The reopening of the Tatuí Center, in October, marks a new cycle that integrates electrification, advanced engineering and technical training. The complex develops three of the brand’s eight global engine families. But the next chapter promises to be even more decisive. In 2027, South America will receive the new Ranger Plug-in Hybrid, and the flex engine that will equip the pickup is being developed in Brazil – an unprecedented milestone for local engineering.
Toyota’s future in Brazil will be hybrid
The Japanese automaker confirmed that, starting in 2026, its entire passenger-car line will have at least one flex-hybrid version, including imported models. The strategy, already applied in Corolla and Yaris Cross, integrates the brand’s new plug-in hybrid system, capable of operating with ethanol or gasoline. The movement also reaches the pickup segment: the Hilux should gain 48 V mild-hybrid and flex plug-in hybrid versions, while Toyota studies launching an unprecedented electrified unibody pickup.
BYD launches luxury brand in Brazil
Denza, BYD’s luxury division, lands in Brazil betting on the premium electrified segment. The first three models – Z9 GT, B5 and D9 – began to arrive, with possible national production in Bahia. The Z9 GT delivers 965 hp, a 100 kWh battery and 630 km of range, positioning the brand among electric super sports cars. The B5, a 4×4 plug-in hybrid SUV, brings 677 hp, range of up to 1,200 km and intelligent suspension for off-road use. The D9 van, in turn, reinforces the focus on executive mobility. Denza marks a strategic move by BYD to consolidate Brazil as its main market outside China.
China dominates the list of the fastest electrics
The global ranking of the fastest electric cars of 2025 lays bare a historic turning point: China took command of electric high performance. Five of the ten fastest models are Chinese, and the podium is 100% dominated by brands from the country. The absolute leader is the GAC Hyptec SSR, which accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.9 seconds and also recorded the fastest drift in the world for an electric, according to Guinness. Next come the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra (1.98 s) and the Zeekr 001 FR (2.02 s), both leaving Tesla and Porsche behind. The ranking confirms: the new reference of high-performance electromobility comes from the East – and is redefining the future of the sector. Check on the side the list of the 10 fastest electric cars in the world.
