The search for a more complete experience to watch the games should boost categories such as projectors, soundbars, speakers, beer fridges and electric barbecues. In World Cup season, Brazilians turn the home into a meeting point, which opens opportunities for brands and retailers to increase the average ticket with products that complement entertainment.
Among the companies that are already organizing to serve this movement is HQ, which projects significant growth in sales of home appliances, electronics and TVs. “Our wine coolers and beer fridges, in particular, should experience an increase that can exceed 25% during the event period,” says Eduardo Pimenta, commercial director of HQ.
The sales peak, he explains, occurs in the month preceding the start of the competition. “It is in this period that the consumer begins to organize and invest in the structure to receive friends and family,” he says. “A second moment of high sales coincides with the group stage, fueled by the excitement that intensifies with each match,” he adds.
If TVs remain the protagonists, projectors advance as an alternative for those looking for immersion and screen size. Epson is watching this movement closely, especially among consumers who seek the feeling of a movie theater at home. “The World Cup drives the search for equipment that provides immersive experiences, and projectors are an alternative to large-inch TVs,” evaluates Ilan Kibrit, projector products manager at Epson. He adds that mobility and ease of installation make smart projectors a versatile option for living rooms, balconies, bars and restaurants.
The segment of products for gourmet areas and food preparation is also expected to receive a significant boost. Fischer is betting on electric barbecues and beer fridges to meet the needs of consumers who enjoy hosting at home. “We project a strong increase in demand for products aimed at gourmet spaces, leisure and small appliances. Brazilians are passionate about soccer and, above all, about bringing friends and family together,” says Karin Fischer, commercial and marketing director.
With multiple categories on the rise and consumers willing to invest in improving the experience of watching matches at home, the electronics retail sector enters the game with an expanded portfolio of opportunities—right in one of the most dynamic periods of the year.
